IT'S ALL GONE!!!

It seems like every time I go to the hair stylist, my hair just gets shorter and shorter. I just can't resist trying something new, and extensions are too expensive. :( So I just keep choppin' it off!

Making Dinner: Week One

For Good Works in YW, it asks you to make dinner for your family for two weeks. After doing this for a week, my family's lucky they haven't died from my... creations. You learn something new every day I guess....

DAY ONE
Dinner plan: Cheeseburger Soup
What went well: It tasted fine and everyone ate it.
What went terribly wrong: Ever tried "Better Than Bouillon"? Well, I hadn't, and nobody told me that you're supposed to put a cup of water in with every teaspoon of that greenish glop... So when the recipie said, "Boil broth and onion mixture", I thought, What is there to boil?, and moved on. Let's just say that Mom wasn't very happy...

DAY TWO
Dinner plan: Yummy tortellinis (to all y'all, they're Tortellinies with Tomatoes and Basil.)
What went well: I didn't miss any ingredients this time! And it tasted delicious!
What went terribly wrong: To everyone's surprise- NOTHING!!! :)

DAY THREE
Dinner Plan: Chili and Breadsticks
What went well: Once again, I didn't miss any ingredients. And everything tasted fine. Now, preparing it....
What went terribly wrong: Let's just say that I like to skim through the directions, and then just do what I remember being on there. And I didn't remember "let the breadsticks rise before you put them in the oven" being on the paper. Luckily, Mom did. I shudder to think what might have happened if she hadn't looked around and asked me, "Where did the breadsticks go?", and then rushed over to the oven and snatched them out.

DAY FOUR
Dinner Plan: Scalloped Potatoes
What went well: The potatoes tasted yummy and were easy to make. And I was in the mood for something cheesy; this satisfied that particular craving! :)
What went terribly wrong: Not anything, this time! It did feel weird sitting there with just me & Sadie (Mom, Dad, Cameron, and Andrew were at Scout Day Camp).

DAY FIVE
Dinner Plan: Homemade Pizza & Root beer
What went well: See Day Two
What went terribly wrong: The root beer wasn't quite as fizzy as I had hoped, but it got better as the night went on! Don't you just love dry ice?

DAY SIX
Dinner Plan: Cereal
What went well: We didn't starve. Except Andrew. He didn't want to eat until it was too late. (YOU'RE TOO LATE!!! MWAH HA HA... ha...he... ((name that movie)) )
What went terribly wrong: How can you go wrong with cereal? Unless it's Cocoa Roos... :P

DAY SEVEN [Father's Day]
Dinner Plan: Spagetti ala Carbonara and (for dessert) Lemon Bars
What went well: Mom agreed to make the Spagetti stuff if I made the lemon bars and the salad.
What went terribly wrong: Once again, Mom caught me before the scene had all played out. BUT, instead of 16 oz of sour cream, I almost used 16 oz of Cream Cheese. The lemon bars would have been a little strange with that much cream cheese...

And that's dinner so far. I'll put tonight's dinner with next weeks post... and I hope your dinners have been a little less... eventful (is that a word?) than ours!

Ciao!

I LOVE BOOKS!!! (Especially cheap ones ;)

I'm sooooo excited! I just bought Elantris- the Brandon Sanderson book I have been wanting for AGES! When I saw it in paperback for cheap, I just had to buy it!
The back of this books says it all-
RAODEN: prince of Arelon, was loved by all, including the princess he never met. Where has he gone?
HRATHEN: high priest of Fjordell, will convert the people of Arelon or kill them. How will he decide?
SARENE: princess of Teod, was a widow before she was ever married. Who can stand against her?
I loved this book the first time I read it, and I love it even more the second time. I totally agree with Locus, "You'll swiftly forget you're reading a first novel... this is one heck of a debut!"
Going to read :),

Experimenting With Dry Ice

Putting in the ice...

Here she comes.....

VIOALA! Magical smoke!

Despite what it looks like, Carbon Dioxide doesn't taste very good. :P

Cameron has always been one to fixate on a topic until he knows everything about it, then move on. I remember when he decided he wanted to learn every card trick known to mankind; he checked out over 20 card trick books from the library! :) But that's just Cameron. So when we got dry ice to make root beer last night (which was delicious!), he couldn't help but play with it, and I joined right in! You should have seen it in boiling water... I thought the kitchen had turned into Yellowstone.

BOSTON!

In case you people haven't noticed before, I'm Zen Master at procrastination. It's a gift. But I decided that I should probably post about Boston someday, so here we are! Enjoy the lovely, and sometimes generic, pictures. Bear with me; everone has to get pictures with statues and what-not. ;)
We had 2 hours at the airport with nothing to do... This is what became of it :) There are more, but I have a feeling Brinn didn't want them posted!

On the Freedom Trail! This fun little brick line goes through all of Boston's most historic and memorable sites, you just follow it and it leads you everywhere!

The State House, right on Beacon Hill. The gold panelling was done by Paul Revere's company or something to that effect...

Here lies Paul Revere!

This graveyard reminded me of A Christmas Carol.

Benjiman Franklin!!! He's my favorite! :)

The old cobblestones where the Boston Massacre took place. Contrary to the way the name sounds, only about 5 people died in this "massacre".

Posing with Samuel Adams.
My new Boyfriend!

OH NO!!!! HE'S CHEATING ON ME!!! >:O

On board Old Ironsides! I'm not sure, but I don't think this is an original life tube...

Inside the USS Constitution Museum, there was a children's section that was actually pretty cool. This is Riss and Brinn in the hammocks.

I'm winning! This awesome chess set is something I would totally want in my dream house.

This was the Shot Heard Round the World reenactment. These are the "British" soldiers! Notice I got the drummer boys in the picture ... ;)

Here come the Revolutionaries! (Remember, they weren't "American" yet.)

This mess is where Brinn and I set up shop. We cleaned it right after I took this picture, honest. Sadly, this is a reflection of my room at it's worst....

This is the beautiful Mount Auburn cemetery. A few of the people buried here include Oliver Wendel Holmes, Asa Gray, and Dorothea Dix.

This creepy guy was in a family tomb...

If you come to the cemetery early enough, you can climb the tower and look out over the whole cemetery, and across the river to Boston.

Looking across the river to Boston :)
Brinn doesn't like this picture, but I love it!
This picture was taken at around 4 o'clock in the morning. It was SO COLD!!! So we took hot chocolate and tons of blankets and scarves and hats and socks.

One of the cool things about getting up early for this reenactment was watching the sun come up. They like to do the reenactments around the same time that it took place, and this event happened to take place at 5:30 AM. The green was about an hour away from where Riss lived, so we had to get up even earlier. Plus we wanted good seating. :)

Here come the Redcoats! HIDE THE CHILDREN!!!!

I absolutly love this picture! You can see the fire coming out of the men's rifles; the reenactors use the same style and build of weapon that was used at the time of the actual battles.

Look at the far left- a dead Redcoat!

DRUMMER BOYS!!! :D

Still the same day, but a 4 hour nap later. :) This is the end of the boston marathon! You wouldn't believe the weird things people would wear while they were running...

Wonderland!!!! I LOVE Alice in Wonderland (mostly because of the Mad Hatter ;) and so when we saw there was a subway stop called Wonderland, we had to go and take pictures!

At the beautiful beach! Lucky for us, it was sunny when we decided to come here!

Riss and Brinnley chasing seagulls

I told you guys- I have baby hands!

In the Public Gardens!

TULIPS! The flowers here were absolutly stunning! I've considered moving to Boston during the springtime just for the amazing blossoms they get here!

Mr. George Washington. He's supposed to have a saber in his right hand, but people keep stealing the blade, seeing as it slips right out!
The sky was also super lovely this day :D

Once I got on the famous Swan Boats, I couldn't stop snapping pictures. Look at how green everything is! It's so unlike here, where everything this green is either fake or an indoor plant.

Still on the Swan Boats.

Brinn on the Boats

After walking down the street for a while, we went into an uber good ice cream store, and they had this awesome teacup you could eat in! It reminded me of not too long ago in Disneyland...

We were supposed to go home on the 19th, but our plane had some technical difficulties... So we stayed another day and went shopping, just me and Brinn, in Harvard Square! Harvard is a beautiful place with awesome little shops surrounding it. Oliver Wendel Holmes was also born on campus...

These cannons were used in the Revolutionary War. And now they're just sitting in Harvard Square, in the central green!

George Washington stood under that tree! Right there! OH MY GOODNESS, LET'S SAVE THE TREE INSTEAD OF DOING SOMETHING USEFUL! LET'S BUILD A WHOLE FENCE AROUND THE TREE AND DON'T LET ANYONE TOUCH IT! IT COULD WHITHER AWAY AND DIE!!!!!!!!!
Seriously, people? It's a tree....

Finally, we're flying home :)
There are so many more things I could post and run on and on about, but I wouldn't want to bore you, and my poor dino of a computer might have a seziure.

Peace out,
Lindsey
