I'm Plaaaaying in the Rain....

That's kind of a fuzzy picture, but that's what it felt like tonight. Without the umbrella. And it was real rain. And I wasn't slouched over, I was standing there playing my marimba for 3 hours straight in the perpetual rain.
I now know what marching band feels like if you live in Seattle.....

Two Months of Marching Band

Two months have passed since marching band began and we are doing AWESOME!!! Sure we have no lif, but I've heard it said that Band with no social life is better than a social life with no band.
This is how we're doing our hair for competitions/performances. My hair wasn't long enough, so the bun you see is actually fake hair that can be attached to my tiny little ponytail!
Stephen has a part in the show where he is killed and has to lay on the ground for a while... He got to sleep for about an hour while they learned the drill for this part of the show.

PIT!

On the last Saturday rehersal, everyone was super tired, and during the lunch break there were sleeping marchers everywhere!

Sleeping Tyler...

Sleeping Lily

Sleeping Billy...
Collin in his color guard hair and make-up.

At the football games, there's a garbage can that's painted camo, and we found a turtle on it!

The drum majors and red shirts waiting to be marched into the river.

Mr. Russell, the band director.

A pie is smashed into Conner's face. :)

Pies were auctioned off to smash in people's faces. This is the drumline smashing one in Alex's face (Alex is a snare drum).

Brett, Billy and Alyssa

Billy.... Loving the ponytail ;)

LILY !

As I'm sure you can guess, Marching Band gets a little crazy. These pictures are just evidence I'm using to prove my point.

In that last post, I don't know what was happening with the yellow. sorry!

Who doesn't love glow-in-the-dark paint?

For Pit/Front Ensemble, we made t-shirts and painted our faces after the parade! Mom brought by glow-in-the-dark yeItalicllow paint, and everybody loved it!

The finished products! (I know, I put them in backwards again.) We drove on the highway with the facepaint on. It was the funniest thing I've done in a long time. Especially the guy in the blue convertable..... :)
The back of my shirt

Tori isn't actually in Front Ensemble, but she's the only girl in Drumline, so we let her to our parties!

Megan is focused on her shirt...

As are Alex and Rachael!

These shirts are the ones we got for this years show. No they do not say "ZOO", they say, "300". As in, the R-Rated movie 300, where 300 Spartans defeated thousands of Persians for days, then gave their lives for the good of Greece when one of their own betrayed them. A superbly fun show to play on Percussion!!!

Kiersten and Caeliegh (did I spell that right???) waiting for their shirts to dry! All of us have names that are our instruments combined with animals. We have:
  • Dingong (dingo + gong)
  • Cymballama (cymbal + llama)
  • Marilla (marimba + gorilla)
  • Chimeleon (chimes + cameleon)
  • Shnare (snare drum + hare)
  • Narbells (narwhale + bells)
  • Timanzee (timpany + chimpanzee)
  • Vibenocerous (vibraphone + rhinocerous)
  • Drumasaur (base drum + dinosaur)
  • Pitapotomus (pit + hippopotomus)
  • Tigraphone (tiger +vibraphone)

We thought it was pretty funny....

It's called Validation, and it's really cute and makes you want to be a better person and friend. Remember, a smile is all it takes!

This is going to be harder than I thought...

Driving doesn't seem hard until you're actually behind the wheel.
I've been taking driver's ed for about a week now, and everything seems pretty simple. A lot to remember, but simple. Not so when that knowledge is actually put to use...
Mom , Dad, and I went for my first "drive" tonight, if that's what you want to call it. It's been said that every LDS person learns to drive in the church parking lot; so far this is true. We went to the church and practiced parking, turning, backing up, changing the song, all while trying not to hit invisible cars. Harder than it sounds.
I only ran into the curb once, but if there were actual cars in the parking lot, about 40 people would be after me...
This does get easier, right?.........
