Girls Camp :)

This past week was Girls Camp for our ward, and my first time as a YCL! It was so much fun! We went to this place called Ohanapecosh (up by Mount Ranier) and everything was super awesome :) While we were there, we YCL's wrote a little song about camp. It started out as a song about being cold, but it kind of transformed into what you see below:

CAMP (to the tune of Taylor Swift's "Mean")

You're hiking down the trail
And your feet are sore and you really need a bathroom
You are wishing you were back at camp
Cause you really want a blanket
You left your coat at camp
And you wore capris and your legs are freezing
Pictures take up too much time

But that won't get me down
Cause I'm at Girls Camp
And I have got a pillow pet

Someday I'll be back in my own bedroom
But for now I guess I'll just share a tent
Someday I'll be back with my own bathroom
But for now I'll just use a stall
With no soap at all...

You with your stinky clothes
Inhaling smoke and hacking like a smoker
You haven't taken a shower in three days
And you could really use some facewash
You wear bandanas on your head
Cause your hair looks like a grease pit
I just really want to shave my legs

But that won't get me down
Cause I'm at Girls Camp
I love my YCL's
They have given me some candy
Now I'm bouncing off the trees

Someday I'll be heading home to a shower
And all camps ever gonna be is dirt
Someday I'll be washing my clothes in my washer
Ohanapecosh will go down my drain
But it won't leave my brain

And I can see me years from now looking back
On all my camp mem'ries
The hikes, the crafts and the fires
Quoting all the Kid Hist'ry
Staying up then wishing that I had gone to bed at ten
But we stayed up laughing and I will never forget
We went to bed at one.
We went to bed at one...
Or two...
Or three...
I don't really know
But I laughed, and I laughed, and I laughed...

Thank you leaders, camp was really awesome
You are the best leaders in the world
Someday I hope to be half the women you are
Thanks for everything you've done
Camp was so much fun
Girls camp was so much fun
Girls camp was so much fun...

Sweet 16!

For about the past month, Cameron has been telling me, "Lindsey, your present is really cool!" And I have been very confused, because I didn't even know what I wanted that bad. I was completely baffled- what could possibly be so exciting? It was this:

For those of you who don't know what this is, let me explain. My favorite book in the entire world is Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn. The necklace above is the symbol for a Tin Misting :) I have been wanting one of these necklaces for years! I couldn't believe that Cameron even thought of this, and it was really cool that he got it for me! This is one of the best birthday presents ever. :)

Note: I didn't realize this hadn't posted until today. oops XD

My Fiesta de Sorpresa!

Friday the tenth. What a normal day, right? The last day of school, so walking home and just chilling the rest of the day, that's what I thought. Little did I know...
After I got home from the annual walk on the last day of school, I was exausted. Mom told me we had to go to the stake center to try on bloomers for trek later that day, but I just forgot about that. All I wanted to do was read a book and maybe take a nap. So I did.
But at around 5:50, Mom came in and said we had to be at the stake center by 6 becuase the lady who had the bloomers had to leave. I didn't really want to go; I was sleeping, for goodness sakes. But she told me to brush my teeth and hair, and get in the car.
Then we got to the stake cernter, and there were streamers and balloons. I didn't really get it for a minute, but then I saw Brett sitting on a table. Then it hit me- this was a party. for me! i had no idea- my birthday isn't until the 23rd, and I hadn't picked up on the clues that apparently had been right in front of me for the past month or so. And it was AWESOME! We played games, had fondue (yummy!) and did all that fun party stuff! SUPER FUN :)
Alex, Cameron, Josh,Megan W, Brinn, Brett, Kiersten, Lily, Andrew, Sadie, Cheyenne, and Tori

Alex W, Alex M, Justin (I think.... sorry guys), Camo, Josh, Megan, etc

I believe I already idetified these people

Cheyenne acting in a game of Telephone Charades

Yummy food! :)

More deliciousness

Sadie :) Her face was covered in chocolate pretty much from the moment we got there.

My "cake" :) These were the same cupcakes Evelyn had at her wedding. They are so good!

Me and my friends :) You guys are awesome.

I made a wish, but I'm having trouble remembering what it was!

Kiersten gave me these awesome bumper stickers and the cute hat :)

Alex got me these awesome little "Marillas". If you don't remember what those are, in pit we combined the names of our instruments with animals. (gorillas+marimba = marillas)

Brinnley :) The camp chair I'm sitting in was decorated by her with my name and music notes! She also gave me that cute picture frame that goes perfectly with my room.

Alex M gave me these cute bracelets :)

Me and Alex

Cheyenne drew an amazing picture of a dragon playing the guitar. I don't know if you can see it really well in this picture, but it's beautiful.

This blanket that Tori gave me is so warm and super boss! It's going to be perfect for band trips!

There is a story behind this gift: The bus Brett and I ride goes right by Wendy's every day after school. And every day I tell him that I want a chocolate frosty, because I really do! If I crave anything, it's a frosty! Knowing that, and hearing me say I want a frosty every week day, Brett got me a gift card so now I can go get a frosty or two :)

This is now the best shirt I own! Megan, you have great taste :)

Lily! You can't really see it in the picture, but Lily got me the super cute little ceramic vase with the scenty sticks. It matches my room perfectly, and it smells really good!

One day at lunch, Justin Merrill was playing a Pirates song in the seminary building, and I told Katie that I was going to get a Pirates book someday. And now I have one sitting on my piano- it's so awesome! I LOVE playing anything written by Hans Zimmer, especially the Pirates songs. The button she got me says "Musicians duet bettter". (say it out loud ;)

The Merrills got me the 5th Harry Potter movie and movie stuff! I love Harry Potter, so it was perfect! :)

Celina knows me well- she got me a Symphony bar, Pocky, and a cute bracelet that says "Friends forever" on one side and "share hopes fears" on the other.

To close, I'd like to send a huge THANK YOU to everyone who planned/came to my party. This was the best birthday EVER!

Wave At The Bus

So we've all been embarassed by our parents before, right? I bet not as much as this guy!
This dad has been dressing up and waving to his son's bus every day this year, always in a different costume. This blog link has pictures of every single day he's waved. Super funny/frightening!...

Beautiful Disaster

I know I posted this before, but I completely forgot to explain it... oops! :)
So this link is to the song Beautiful Disaster by Jon McLaughlin. It's such a great song, paired up with a great pianist/singer. (Jon is the same one who did that amazing song for Enchanted, So Close :)
But yeah, check out this song! It's awesome :D

These past few weeks have been CRAZY!!! Three weeks ago we were in Utah, the week after that I went to Silverwood for the weekend, and then this past weekend we went camping. I'm almost relieved to get back to school for a "break" :)

But on Tuesday the 24th I go some exciting news- I've been selected as one of this years Red Shirts!

For those of you who don't know, the Drum Majors are the people who lead the marching band, and the Red Shirts are the Drum Major's assistants. So in April, I auditioned to be one of this year's red shirts. The audition includes marching a block around the field, teaching a marching skill, and interview, and leading 4 minutes of music. I was super nervous, even though I knew that I had prepared as much as I could. But the day came and passed, and I thought that I did fine.

Our band director, Mr. Russell, told us that we could find out, but not tell anyone, or wait a few weeks until the final concert. I opted to not find out, because it's really hard for me to keep something like that a secret. It felt like forever, but finally the concert came, and I found out that I had been chosen! Sure, that'll be a lot more responsibility and commitment, but it's totally worth it! I cannot wait for this year's band season!

I know, I know. I already have about 10 guitar posts. But he's just so beautiful! :)

Band + Procrastination

So I know I'm, like, the worst procrastinator, but this is by far the worst. These pictures are from the band trip we took in November :)

Me and Megan waiting to leave from DHMS.

Waiting in line at McDonalds...

Who said teenagers are too old for the playland? :D

Megan ;)

This picture would be good on it's own (Billy's face, Lily being the ninja as always, etc etc) but look in the top right corner. That lady was just sitting there alone for about an hour. We felt bad for her, but then laughed when we realized that I accidently took a stalker picture of her! :)

Trying on dresses is a tradition when on band trips. Don't ask why, it just is.

Anybody need a baby? cause they're on sale at Macy's!

SNAPE!! He's my favorite character out of all the books, partially because whoever is the actor does a great job, but also because his character has so much depth, and he always says and does things that you never see coming.

"I wear my sunglasses at night, so I can so I can..... um... sing the lyrics that nobody knows...." ;)

My portable boyfriend! He's actually just a squishy rainbow pillow from Macy's, but it's really comfortable.

Lovely, isn't it? This messy sleeping area is yet another band tradition.

Beautiful bibbers

Not counting the hours when we were asleep, our time was mostly spent in these lovely middle school locker rooms.

This picture was taken a few minutes after our final competition at Auburn. We were soaked from the constant drizzle that is perpetually falling in Western Washington, but we were also super pumped from the great performance and happy! :)

The final result of our last time packing the trailer. It's probably the worst part about Pit, but loading can be fun.

We brought tons of glo sticks for the last night, and they looked really cool reflecting off of the gym floor. A massive glo stick war also took place! :)

The ride home...

Alex gave us these gifts, as well as the t-shirt shown below, as her goodbye... I love the picture frame!

I always get questions when I wear this shirt.... So to make a long story short, they were tears of joy! ;)
